Fequently Asked Questions

Can I park anywhere I want?
You can only park in the area designated by your permit. You will get a ticket if you park elsewhere on University controlled property or violate any parking regulation. You must also obey traffic rules, posted signs, painted curbs and pavement. If you need to park somewhere other than your permit, notify the Parking Office.

Can I resell my permit?
Parking permits and gate cards are intended for the exclusive use of the purchaser. They may not be resold or transferred in any way without the permission of Parking & Traffic Management. All parking permits and gate cards remain the property of Duquesne University and must be surrendered upon demand.

What happens when I leave the University?
If a permit has expired and will not be renewed, it should be destroyed. The permit holder will be responsible for any and all citations issued to that permit. See refund schedule for early returns of permits.

What if I forget my permit?
You can get a temporary permit, at no charge, for one day. The prevailing Forbes garage rate will be charged for each additional day.

What if I lose my permit?
The replacement charge for a parking permit or gate card is $25. This charge will be refunded if the permit or gate card is found and returned to the Parking Office within five business days.

Can I get money back for the summer?
There will be no refund on annual permits for days between May and August that you do not park here.

How many cars can I register on my permit?
A maximum of three vehicles may be registered per parking permit. A copy of the registration card must be submitted for each vehicle. Only one vehicle may be parked on campus at any given time; additional vehicles would be subject to tagging and/or towing penalties.

How does my department arrange for visitor parking?
All University departments should direct their visitors to the Forbes Avenue garage.  When five or more vehicles are expected for an event, please make arrangements made with Parking & Traffic Management. Your department may pay for visitors’ parking in advance.

Can vendors and construction workers park for free?
All vendors, service or repairpersons, and construction workers are required to have parking permits. Do not advise anyone to park on campus during enforcement hours without a permit.
